LiveKrowd Wins Universal Music Group (UMG) Competition
LiveKrowd started by running virtual concerts for hospitals to boost morale during COVID-19 and expanded into an artist booking platform for live streaming.

Paris, France – LiveKrowd, a performing artist booking platform for live streaming wins the Universal Music Group (UMG) competition held at MindSumo beating all other entries from across the world.

The theme of the challenge was to use technology to bring artists and fans closer together amid the new social distancing era. LiveKrowd won the grand prize of the competition with the new concept of empowering artists to be booked for live streaming.

The project started in the middle of COVID-19 pandemic by running virtual concerts for hospitals and medical centers to boost morale of medical workers and patients while they battle the coronavirus. Started with one full-time team member and a part-time software developer, they managed to recruit over 30 voluntary artists in the first two weeks and organized two virtual gigs for a hospital.

During the online gig, doctors, nurses, staff and patients who tuned in via their mobile phones, PCs or connected TVs to the YouTube live stream, made song requests, song dedications and live chat with the artists. They even sent out virtual hearts and applause from LiveKrowd web application. The focus is on interaction and engagement where the artists were virtually there to talk to them and encourage them to fight on.

After growing their average viewing time to up to 300% and running 15 online gigs for hospitals in Asia, UK and Europe, they expanded their platform by allowing artists to be booked anywhere in the world to perform via live streaming.

“We’re now helping to provide global income streams to artists struggling to cope with this outbreak,” said the founder, Melvin Wong. This is his new startup, after getting two of his previous startups acquired.

LiveKrowd previously reached top 10 and top 4 in two other hackathon competitions. It is currently based in Paris, France and envisages its platform to revolutionize the live music industry by allowing businesses and private events around the world to book artists to perform via live streaming. Clients are private event owners, bars, clubs, restaurants, churches and beyond.
