Henderson, Nevada – June 28, 2022 – The loss of a loved one is difficult for anybody to deal with, but kids need some special support to get through the trauma that a death can bring. Once in a while, a Children’s Book is published that is more than just a story with great drawings.
The new book by Noted Children’s Book Author, Masami S.C., is just such a book. The Loss of a Loved One is the third book of the Brown Bear & Oofie series. In The Loss of a Loved One, Brown Bear’s Grandma, Mimi, has died. Brown Bear is crying hysterically about her Mimi, Grandma, passing away. Oofie helps Brown Bear with emotional support and they discuss the topic of death together. Oofie, who was also close to Mimi, shares the sorrow but comforts Brown Bear throughout the book with different ideas about what happens when a loved one leaves this world.
During a recent interview, Masami S.C. made these comments, “I want to bring awareness to kids so they know they aren’t alone. My topics are social issues/ life learning lessons. I want the parents to be involved and read my books with their kids and have valid conversations and open the doorways to communicating better with them”.
She goes on to say, “So many young kids these days are consumed with social media and technology and miss out on learning valuable lessons in life while being disconnected from their parents. Brown Bear & Oofie are meant to look as if a child of a similar age drew them. I believe the young readers can connect more this way.”
About The Author:
Masami S.C. has two young girls and communicating with them is not always easy, especially with social issues. Masami S.C. decided to create a special way to get her messages directly to her girls through illustration and a simple story. Brown Bear & Oofie are her daughters’ favorite stuffed animals and with them as the communicators, Masami S.C. was able to address complex issues with her daughters in a simple, non-confrontational and effective manner, thus opening the door to easy and comfortable communication with her children.
Masami S.C. thought her messages, originally and humbly drawn on notebook paper, might be able to help other kids worldwide. Maintaining her vision for her books, Masami S.C. self-published her first two books to a warm and receptive audience and has garnered several Book Awards.
